In the Stroke Rehabilitation Department of our hospital, all support for post-acute and chronic stroke patients for any functional loss and complications that may develop after stroke is provided by our multi-disciplinary team.
In our stroke rehabilitation team; There are Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician, rehabilitation nurse, physiotherapist, speech and language therapist, occupational and occupational therapist, clinical psychologist, social worker, orthosis-prosthetic technician, medical secretary and clinical support staff. A detailed evaluation of the individual in terms of cognitive status, speech, swallowing, daily living activities, and loss of walking function due to stroke is made by the physician, treatment goals are determined and a rehabilitation program specific to the individual is planned and implemented with medical arrangements.
In order to eliminate and improve the movement and physical function disorders of stroke patients, hand rehabilitation, robotic rehabilitation applications, rehabilitation applications with virtual reality games, FES, occupational therapy for daily living activities, vocational rehabilitation and psychosocial rehabilitation treatments are applied. A rehabilitation program that will increase functionality in environments such as home, work, school and facilitate returning to work in our vocational rehabilitation unit is given individually, accompanied by an occupational therapist. Detailed evaluations are made for stroke individuals with speech, cognitive and swallowing pathologies, and therapy and rehabilitation applications and individualized education programs are applied for those with special needs. In order to diagnose swallowing disorders in the early period, to take the necessary precautions and to apply the treatment, firstly, after the bedside swallow test and physical examination of the oral motor structures, "videofluoroscopic swallowing evaluation" is performed by interpreting the radiological records during the swallowing of radiopaque substances prepared in various consistencies. According to the patient's condition, swallowing rehabilitation is supported by "vital stimulation" treatment.
Injection procedures for diagnosis and treatment of post-stroke musculoskeletal problems (especially painful shoulder) accompanied by ultrasonography, and botulinum toxin application for the treatment of patients who develop local spasticity.
clinical psychologist; provides therapy and psychological support services to stroke patients, uses observation and interview techniques, and applies and interprets tools such as intelligence, personality, development, neuropsychological tests, interest, attitude and adaptation inventory, provided that they are trained. If there is a need for an orthosis for upper and lower extremity function losses after stroke, it is determined and information about the use and care of the orthosis is given. The patients and their relatives are trained and followed up on nutrition and fluid control, use of devices and drugs, catheter care, pressure ulcer prevention and care, bladder and bowel rehabilitation, foot care, position control, prevention of deformities and fall risk.
Our Stroke Rehabilitation Team; It meets once a week with the participation of all team members and makes the necessary evaluations at the beginning, middle and before discharge of each patient, determines the needs and examines the development processes. A long-term care plan is provided, focusing on informing and training the patient and his relatives, as well as on the individual's living a better life after stroke.
