Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Unit

Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit

Our cardiac rehabilitation team provides supervised exercise program with secondary prevention interventions to improve the quality of life and accelerate the recovery of individuals following acute cardiovascular events such as myocardial infarction, myocardial revascularization (percutaneous coronary intervention / coronary artery bypass surgery), heart transplantation, pacemaker implantation and heart failure. It is also applicable for individuals with stable coronary artery disease and peripheral artery disease.

Patients undergo an initial physical assessment by a specialist physician, and their functional capacity is determined by exercise tolerance test. According to the test, individual-specific aerobic, strengthening and relaxation exercises are planned and performed by monitoring electrocardiogram (ECG) and blood pressure. Physical activity counseling, diet/nutritional counseling, smoking cessation and psychological management are also provided as secondary prevention interventions.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation Unit

Our pulmonary rehabilitation team provides interventions for individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), other chronic lung disorders (such as cystic fibrosis / bronchiectasis / interstitial lung disease / lung resection) or acute lung disorders (such as pneumonia) to achieve and maintain maximum independence and functionality. The main goals of pulmonary rehabilitation are to reduce shortness of breath, relieve symptoms, restore functional capabilities, and enhance overall quality of life. After patients undergo an initial physical assessment by a specialist physician, and pulmonary function test and exercise tolerance tests are performed. Individualized exercise programs including trainings covering all aspects of pulmonary care are planned and performed to the patients.
