ESWT (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy)
ESWT (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy); It is a treatment method applied by focusing the pressure waves to the desired area of the body by steel-headed applicator.
This method allows the body to induce its own healing mechanisms by increasing the blood supply in the applied area,
ESWT is a highly effective treatment procedure which is appropriate for patients diagnosedwith following syndromes:
- Heel pain, epin calcanei, plantar fasciitis
- Medial epicondylitis (golfer's elbow), lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow )
- Calcific tendinitis,
ESWT treatment is usually applied one session per week and 3-5 sessions in total. Each session takes about 5-10 minutes.
Patient should be examined by physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists, orthopedic specialists or sports medicine specialists of our hospital intended for the suitability of ESWT treatment. After the examination, if the ESWT treatment is deemed appropriate; the treatment is started after a report is prepared by the specialist.
